MBR and EMBR Manipulation Utility

MBRWork

For some reason that is totally unclear, at times the Master Boot Record in Windows 9x will become damaged and render the afflicted computer unbootable. Sometimes this can be fixed by booting to the Windows 9x Startup Boot Disk and typing FIDSK /MBR and then touch the enter key. Other times this procedure leaves us no better off than we were before. Finally there is a freeware tool to help out, MBRWork version 1.03. This small utility will enable you to work with the MBR and EMBR and allows you to execute both common and uncommon tasks to the MBR/EMBR of a hard drive. It should be obvious that this utility should only be used by power users who understand how computers work. This program allows you to backup the first track on a hard drive, restore the backup file, reset the EMBR area to all zeros, install standard MBR Code, set a partition active (available on the command line too), work with multiple hard drives, and remove EZ-Drive. Currently the only capability check is how the system handles unaligned partitions. If no partitions exist in the MBR and no EMBR exists then this option will allow you to recover lost FAT, HPFS, NTFS, and Extended partitions.
