Issues and Articles

There are presently three releases of MDAC that are available: Two releases for MDAC 2.1 and the Release To Manufacturing (RTM) release of MDAC 2.5. You can also review and download the release manifests for MDAC. A Release Manifest is designed to provide you with details as to version numbers, release dates and how a particular release was made available. You may also want to review installation information regarding MDAC.

MDAC 2.5 RTM (2.50.4403.12) is now available for download from this site. An RTM release was previously called a (GA) release. This Web release is the same version of MDAC that is installed by Windows® 2000. Read the MDAC 2.5 release details.

MDAC 2.1 SP2 is still available for download from this site. This Web release is the second Generally Available (GA) version of MDAC 2.1 and is referred to as MDAC 2.1.2.4202.3 (GA).

MDAC 2.1.2.4202.3 (GA) addresses a number of issues from previous releases. Read the MDAC 2.1 release details.

Besides MDAC, you can also download the Component Checker tool from Microsoft from this page. According to Microsoft, an updated version of Component Checker that includes a snapshot for Windows 2000 will be made available soon.

If you are trying to locate either MDAC 1.5 or 2.0 to download, please note that they are no longer available. You should use the most current version of the Microsoft Data Access Components as noted in this document. While MDAC 1.5 is included with Personal Web Server version 4.0, we recommend that you deploy 2.1 or later.
