MODEM INITIALIZATION STRING INFORMATION

Using Initialization Strings

In Windows 95/98

Go to My Computer
Click the Dial-Up Networking icon
Right click on your Dial-Up connection icon
Select Properties
Click on the Configure button
Click on the Connection tab
Click on the Advanced button
You will now see an extra settings box on this screen. This is where you put the init string.

Windows 3.1 Trumpet Winsock

Open Trumpet Winsock
Goto Dialer, the down to Edit Scripts
You may have a number of different scripts here!
If you have modem.cmd, click on it which will then bring up notepad.
Look for the line $modeminit=”&f&c1&d2″ (&f&c1&d2 is the current init. To change it, just replace it with the correct string)
If you don’t have modem.cmd click on login.cmd. This will bring up notepad and look for the line $modeminit=”&f&c1&d2″ and replace the initialization string with whatever string you wish.
After changing the init string, select File and Save before exiting notepad.

Windows NT4.0

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel
In Control Panel, double click on the Modem Icon
Highlight your modem, and click on Properties
Now click on the Connection tab
Now click on the Advanced button
In Extra Settings, you can insert the desired Init String
