Cannot Connect or Stay Connected Using AOL with WDM Modem
The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

If you are using a Windows Driver Model (WDM) modem, the initial connection attempt to America Online (AOL) may not succeed. Additionally, the connection may eventually be dropped, and your computer may stop responding (hang) after 10 to 15 minutes of use.

CAUSE

There is a problem in handling simultaneous input requests when you are using WDM modem drivers.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
